Evenglide Garage Doors began in 1958. It evolved out of Evenbake Ovens. Founder Ron Muller designed a steam tube oven best suited to small bakeries in rural areas. In the early sixties he designed a counterweight track system tilt door. I started with the company in 1967 as an apprentice welder. In 1976 we became a B&D roller door reseller.
In 1980 we started using “Tiltadoor” panelifts, we had been using their spring fittings for a few years prior.
Geoff Clarke took over the company in 1985. 1989 we moved to a bigger factory in Lexton Road, Box Hill. In 1997 we moved again to our current factory at 29 Metropolitan Avenue Nunawading. We had grown from 1 employee in 1984 to over 20.
About 2001 when panelift doors had taken over as the staple door, we saw the need to offer different styles of tiltdoors. The standard “Hexline” door was no longer popular.
Since then we have been making “Designer” custom doors in greater numbers. Today most of our production is custom built special doors. We make them as Tiltdoors, Counterweights, Sectional, Sliding and Swing gates.
We are able to give customers a wide choice from the standard roller door and panelift we source from B&D as one of their accredited Dealers to custom door/gates in any form that can be made.
